Book Cover Design

Book cover design by Hazel Alemany for The Darkroom Boy by Roger Allen – available from Amazon.

Book Cover Design

When writing your novel, the last thing on your mind is the book cover, but in reality, it is the first thing people will see when looking to purchase. A reader sees your book cover before getting to page one, so it must look like a best-seller and immediately resonate with your audience.

The imagery must capture your book’s mood and theme in the 8 seconds it takes a reader to make a buying decision. Thumbnails for eBooks reduce this to milliseconds.

The cover is effectively your brand: the thumbnail on web stores and the spine in a bookshop shelf are your main routes to sales, so it is imperative that the imagery and typesetting entice the reader to purchase your book.

That is why I am working with an experienced graphic/web designer and illustrator, Hazel Alemany. You can see examples of her work at halodesign.co.uk.

Hazel understands the psychology behind excellent book cover design.

She has over 30 years of experience in graphic design, working with Central Television, ITV, the NHS, and Acorns Children’s Hospice to name but a few.

What you will get . . .
